Team Home Sweet Home

Alright--Round 4 has been posted. Welcome to team Home Sweet Home (www.homesweethome-mac.blogspot.com)
I have about 5 bakers ready to "turn on the ovens" this go 'round...let's get some more signed on and give the guys and girls something to smile about.
My regular email address is: mac-p2@sbcglobal.net , feel free to email me with info questions or to sign onto this team.

Some items to send to the soldiers are not limited to just home-baked goodies--but of course, nothing says home like home-baked: chapstick, hand lotion, all-occasion cards w/envelopes, gum, non-melting candies, snack crackers. I am open to other ideals.
So, ladies (and gentlemen) start your ovens....

First Catering job

Evening All--
I completed my first catering job today--well, me and another chef. He made the plates--mini-quiches and salad. I provided the dessert--spice cupcakes with cream cheese frosting. Decorated with candy clay leaves. These were the centerpieces with the Wilton 13 cupcake stand. On top, I added a scarecrow. I will see if someone got a pic...I was too nervous. Still haven't heard back if Home Sweet Home will be hosting one of the soldiers. Whichever, I will still be sending something to A soldier. Off to bed, I have a long day tomorrow.

I'm back. Got all my stuff mailed out and let me tell, that box from the post office held ALOT of stuff. Someone else suggested sending our soldier some "all occasion" cards for them to mail back to their family. That's another great idea.

Well, as promised, here is the Harvest Walnut Cookies recipe:

Vanilla Dough:
1 box of vanilla cake mis
1/3 cup vegetable oil
4 Tblsp. melted butter
1 slightly beaten egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3/4 chopped walnuts (lightly toasted)

Chocolate Dough:
1 box of devil's food cake mix
1/3 cup vegetable oil
4 Tblsp. melted butter
1 slightly beated egg
2 tsps. vanilla extract
3/4 chopped walnuts (lightly toasted)

Vanilla dough preparation: Beat cake mix, oil, butter, egg and vanilla in large bowl until dough forms. Stir in walnuts.
Chocolate dough preparation: Beat cake mix, oil, butter, egg and vanilla in large bowl until dough forms. Stir in walnuts.
Cookie preparation: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Scoop 1 tsp of vanilla dough and 1 tsp of chocolate dough. Roll both together into one ball. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or just until cookies start to brown. Cool cookies on cookie sheet for 5 minutes then transfer to cooling rack and cool completely. Store in airtight container at room temperature. Makes about 6 dozen cookies.

Good morning, all! This is the first blog posting...please, be patient as I try to figure it all out. I just wanted to welcome all the join the East Texas team of Operation Baking GALS! So far our team consists of Trudy, Tina, Cari, Angie, Cheryl and me...let's get some more names added.

I just sent off my goodies to my 2 soldiers...Trudy and I made chocolate chip cookies, harvest walnut cookies (I will add the recipe here later) and outrageous brownies. I also included some non-melting candy like butterscotch discs, peanut buter logs, mini chick-o-sticks, halloween-sized Paydays & M&M's, Ritz crackers with peanut butter, gum, Blistick lip treatment and Corn Huskers hand lotion--it is very hot and dry over there.

Once our team is up and going for Round 4, if you would like to have your recipe posted, send it to me and I will get it on here. Thanks for all the support for Operation Baking GALS.
